Imagine this scenario: your boyfriend has proposed to you and he gives you a diamond ring celebrating your engagement. Alternatively, you are the boyfriend and you give your girlfriend a diamond ring for your engagement. The good feelings last fora while and then suddenly the engagement breaks up. The question about who gets the ring is often litigated. Like the War of the Ring in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings , both of you seek that one ring and the fighting is fierce. Who gets it depends on what state you live in and how the breakup occurred.
Type of Gift and the Possible Outcomes
Some of the circumstances that determine whether an engagement ring has to be returned include...

Divorce is one of the most difficult life events a person can face. Divorce is stressful, costly, and time-consuming. Not only are you dealing with the personal, often painful reasons behind the divorce, but you are also faced with navigating the intricacies of the divorce process. In fact, divorce may be the very first time you have had to deal with the court system at all.
You may be tempted to handle your divorce on your own, using court-provided documents and self-help resources. While “do it yourself” divorce may be appropriate under certain circumstances, in many situations it is best to let an experienced attorney represent you.

In the age of the smartphone, texting is an increasingly prevalent form of communication. Many people feel more comfortable sending a text message rather than calling or sending an e-mail to the other person. What does this have to do with family law?
A Paper Trail of Proof
Because mobile carriers keep records of text messages, texts create a paper trail of proof. This can be quite helpful or harmful to your case. For example, imagine that two spouses agree through a text message discussion to a particular custody arrangement. Later on, if one spouse reneges upon the agreement, the text records can be used to prove the agreement.
Easing Tensions

From ABAJOURNAL:
Kentucky doesn't allow same-sex marriages or civil unions, or recognize those that occur in other states.
But even if it did, that wouldn't mean that a woman who prosecutors say heard her same-sex partner admit to killing a man and saw her cleaning blood from his van a couple of years ago could assert a spousal privilege to avoid testifying at an upcoming murder trial, a state court judge has ruled, because the women are not actually married.

From the Huffington Post:
When a co-parent won't cooperate or stop fighting, it can be positively maddening. Ex-spouses can become immersed in rage, frustration, and a sense of powerlessness when their co-parenting partnership isn't working. This can leave little energy for either to move ahead with their post-divorce lives.
You cannot force an uncooperative co-parent to stop fighting. You can take them to court and make their choice to misbehave costly and time consuming (for you both). You can do this repeatedly. Unfortunately, co-parents focused on being destructive or on hurting their ex can always find new ways to do so.
The more you understand about why your ex won't give up the fight the better your chances at figuring out...

Holidays are a very significant time for most families. Parents and children will naturally want to spend special time together. If you and your ex share child custody, the holidays may present anxieties over how to share equal time with your children. A prearranged, comprehensive plan can make the holidays more enjoyable and less stressful. Here are three options:
Celebrate it Twice
One option is to celebrate the holiday twice.
For example, Parent #1 could celebrate Christmas with the children a week before, while Parent #2 would celebrate with the children on December 25. This arrangement could be alternated by year to ensure fairness to all.
Divide it in Half
